Nice of you to suggest writing a book. In a way, this blog is my way of testing the possibility. It makes me write regularly (a very good consequence), and it also provides an audience (albeit a small one). It has given me a place to try out different directions, and see how they feel to me, and how much interest they elicit in others. I would love to finally come up with a coherent and viable book direction, and then work on it steadily until done. Actually, though, steadiness is not my strong suit. So there is a good chance that all there will ever be is the blog. But for now I find the project stimulating, and I especially like it when others tell me they get something out of what I put forth.

Thank you for the feedback. I will bring in some more recent stories. As you might guess, many 'interesting' experiences have come my way since my career collapsed and I became a full-blown mental health client. (I had always been unstable, but with the hospitalization my symptoms rose to a much higher and more obvious level.) I am pleased that you are interested. That is the great thing about this blogging business: we can tell each other our stories, get feedback, and know that there are people who care. Like you.

I loved this too and wait with bated breath for the 2nd (brief) episode - such great descriptions of the falls, the bear chase,of all the experiences,of being young and high-spirited - think about writing a book.

I really like the way you write...it is like the type that you don't want to miss till the end of the post (like i don't want to skip ant part of it). You are right about current and personal stories too. I would love to know about how it is like to be in your shoes... like what it felt like being in a psych ward, the stigma of mental illness and the entire experience as a whole.
Hope you and Mandy are well (and the little dogies too!)

Hi Milo. I'll get the next one up soon, though as you will see it is short. I appreciate your interest; judging by the drop-off in both comments and visit-stats, my readership (to the extent I had one) is drifting away. The (long) little Yosemite story did not bring anyone back. Any ideas about what might be more popular? I like to write about the philosophical stuff, but personal (and I guess current) stories seem to be liked the best.
