I feel like my life is consumed by chasing the carrot on the end of the stick. I've actually found that if I am not following the socially accepted path to success, I feel like a failure. I am obsessed with self-improvement. This leaves me very future-focused instead of now-focused. The frustrating thing is, things can always be better, so I will always be looking to the future instead of acknowledging what I have right now. I can relate.
