The images used on this noncommercial blog are in the public domain. The large majority come from CreativeCommons.org. By clicking on the image of interest, you will be taken to a page showing the photo and its source. Usually this will be on Flickr. This is not the exact way that CreativeCommons suggests one provide attribution, but it’s close. To put the CreativeCommons html text on every image would look distracting, and I am taking the liberty of streamlining the process in this way. A few images come from other sources, like sites advertising services. In the latter case clicking on the image will take you to that site. I am not sure if those photos are strictly in the public domain, but as this site makes no money, and the link takes you to the site selling the services, I believe most such organizations would be OK with it. It’s not like this site that attracts huge numbers of visitors. Very occasionally I pull a postcard off PostSecret. I haven’t been able to find its policy on copyrights, but I can’t imagine there would be a problem given the level of my readership and the infrequency with which I use its images. If anyone has comments about these policies, and in particular if you object to my usage of any image, please either email me or leave a comment. Blessings.

Dear Visitors:
Although I trained and practiced as a physician, my background does not include formal instruction in psychiatry beyond basic medical education. This journal presents ideas about treatment philosophy, but must not be considered therapeutic advice. Abrupt changes in one's psychiatric medications can trigger profound cognitive, emotional, and physical symptoms, including suicidal thoughts and actions. Consequently, pharmaceutical agents should not be increased or decreased without supervision by a mental health clinician. -
ON THE OTHER HAND, your brain belongs to you, and your opinion counts. If you decide that changing your medication regimen will serve your best interest, then I believe your providers have an obligation to help you try to achieve your goals. I want everyone to be educated about their options, and do what will be most helpful for themselves. No one should feel pushed around by dogmatic and/or limited viewpoints, whether those of psychiatrists, anti-psychiatry advocates, or myself.
